Thanks for the article, but I think you don’t need to waste your time with IPFS if you have your own server running somewhere. The main idea of the IPFS is to create infrastructure as massive and powerful as some enterprise cloud storages (like Amazon), but for free. Pinning is just a mechanism to balance between replication degree and available free space on our “shared disk”.

I’m not saying that you’re doing it wrong, but there is a misinterpretation of a decentralization concept. The right way is to host yourself an IPFS node (just using your own home pc, you don’t need to use amazon) and help other people with pinning content that you’re interested in and also create interesting and helpful content which other people will pin too.
